SUMMARY:Classically Jazz Concert No. 2 in Heber Springs
DESCRIPTION:Classically Jazz Concert No. 2 coming to Heber Springs\, AR. by Pat Ferguson \nIf you appreciate music\, love classical music\, get a kick out of jazz\, or just need an infusion of great music\, then you will want to attend the upcoming Classically Jazz Concert No. 2 on March 3\, 2024 at 3 pm. Renew Church\, 1099 W. Pine St.\, Heber Springs. \nGretchen Klanke\, classical flautist\, joins three great jazzy artists Dr. Tammie Burger\, piano\, David Higginbotham\, string bass\, and Patrick Lindsey\, drums to present Claude Bolling’s SUITE for FLUTE and JAZZ PIANO TRIO No 2. \nClaude Bolling\, was a jazz musician and composer. “Among the lessons I learned from Duke Ellington\,” Bolling said in 1991\, “is that you write specifically for the personality of the instrumental soloists.” So when he wrote the Suite no.1 for Rampal\, he did so with his specific personality in mind. “Claude’s music was so vastly appealing\,” a flutist who toured with Bolling for 11 seasons\, said \, “because it distilled attributes of sophisticated classical and esoteric jazz styles into accessible palettes of happiness\, excitement\, innocence\, pathos\, playfulness and sincerity.” \nBolling’s Suite No. 1\, played by Klanke and Burger in the fall of 2022\, was a mix of Baroque elegance with modern swing. It told a musical story of the piano gently “seducing” the flute from prim and proper classical baroque style at the beginning of the Suite to the freedom and wildness of jazz at the end. Come and hear how the music continues… \nChapter DB of Heber Springs\, AR is sponsoring this concert to benefit scholarship recipients of P.E.O. International. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women CELEBRATE the advancement of women; EDUCATE women through scholarships\, grants\, loans\, and stewardship of Cottey College and MOTIVATE women to achieve their highest aspirations. \nTickets are $25.00 and may be purchased at the door\, from a Chapter DB P.E.O. member\, or at the office of Renew Church in Heber Springs. A few special silent auction items will be available. Join us March 3rd at 3:00 pm for a fun\, musical adventure.
