Forever Plaid To Continue Broadway Series At UCA Nov 8

A worldwide sensation, the hit musical Forever Plaid, will continue the University of Central Arkansas’s Broadway Series with a 7:30 p.m. performance on Nov. 8 in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.

Forever Plaid tells the story of four members of an all-male singing group who get a second chance to fulfill their dream and perform a concert in heaven that they never got to on earth. Singing in delicious four-part harmony, the cast will serenade the crowd with some of the 1950s greatest hits, including “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Chain Gang,” “Heart and Soul” and “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.”

“It’s not the huge production like, for example, Cats; it is a little more laid-back,” said Jerry Biebesheimer, director of UCA Public Appearances.

Written, created and directed by Stuart Ross, the musical has played non-stop, worldwide for 20 years and has earned a total box office gross of more than $300 million.

“It is a whole lot of fun,” Biebesheimer said. “It is designed to be a pleasant night’s entertainment for the whole family.”

One of the cast members is a familiar name for fans of the television show Frasier as Emmy-award winning actor David Hyde Pierce is a member of the cast.

Joel Siegel of ABC television calls the show, “Wonderfully funny! Perfect! A little bit of heaven for all of us. It’ll run forever!”

Biebesheimer echoes similar praises of the show.

“It is guaranteed to send you out of the auditorium in a good mood and with a smile on your face,” he said.

Tickets, available at the UCA Ticket Central Box Office, are $30-$40 for adults, $27-$37 for senior citizens, $25-$35 for UCA alumni, $23-$33 for UCA faculty and staff, and $10 for UCA students with a current student I.D.
