Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement in response to Baptist Health’s announcement that it is laying off 170 employees:
“Baptist Health’s announcement of layoffs today is terrible news for the employees and their families, and my heart goes out to each of them. As Baptist noted, it’s a grim reminder of how excessive and overly burdensome regulations are hurting our economy and stifling job growth. Also, it stresses the dire need to reform Medicare and Medicaid to save them before they go bankrupt. Unfortunately, our health care coverage is becoming more reliant on a top down, one-size-fits-all, Washington-knows-best approach and today’s news underscores the concerns many Arkansans feel about Obamacare’s implementation.”
Tomorrow, the House will vote on Rep. Griffin’s bill, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667), which will delay the application of Obamacare’s employer health insurance mandate for one year, as well as the Fairness for American Families Act (H.R. 2668) that will provide similar relief to those impacted by the individual health insurance mandate.
