Harding University professor hosts benefit art show Oct 24-29

Harding University art professor Dr. Faye Doran is displaying 110 pieces of her artwork in the Stevens Art Gallery and in the second-floor balcony of the art building to benefit Gander Brook Christian Camp, a summer youth camp in Maine. Because Doran is a 1968 alumna of the University, her show is the featured art exhibit during Homecoming weekend.

The artwork includes pottery and weavings as well as works about nature, food and scenes of Maine. The show will be on display Oct. 24-29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Doran, who was a counselor at Gander Brook in the sixties and has continued to volunteer there, will donate the proceeds of her work to sponsor camperships at the camp.

“My daughter calls Gander Brook ‘one of God’s favorite places,’ and I agree with her,” Doran said. “It is very special to help the young people of New England grow closer to God. By having this art show, I hope to raise money so more children can have the wonderful experience of Christian camping.”
