Harding University professor selected to serve on editorial review board

SEARCY, Ark. —Director of the McNair Scholars Program and Professor of psychology LindaThompson accepted an invitation from the College Reading and LearningAssociation to serve for three years on the editorial review board for Journal of College Reading and Learning.

Published eachfall and spring, JCRL is anational peer reviewed forum for the theory, research and policy related to readingimprovement and learning assistance at the two- and four-year college levels.It publishes reports of original research and articles linking theory, researchor policy to practice.

Thompson has beena member of CRLA for a number of years, as well as its sister organization theNational Association for Developmental Education. She has previously served asNADE president and currently serves as chair of the NADE Certification Council.In 2006, Thompson was selected as a fellow of the Council of LearningAssistance and Developmental Education Associations. She has directed Harding’sTRiO McNair Scholars Program since 2004. This federally funded program providesacademically enriching experiences and mentoring to prepare students forgraduate school admission and eventual doctoral study.

“The Journal of College Reading and Learning isa very fine publication, and I feel quite honored to have been askedto serve in this capacity,” Thompson said.  “It will take some work, butit’s an opportunity to serve the profession by giving researchers andwriters a chance to add to the body of knowledge about practices thatsupport student success in colleges and universities.”
