Description: Herman’s Hermits, starring Peter Noone, and The Lettermen will perform at the University of Central Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.
The concert, part of UCA’s homecoming festivities, is part of UCA Public Appearances’ Nostalgia Series.
At 15, Noone achieved international fame as “Herman” the lead singer of the legendary 1960s pop band Herman’s Hermits. Their hits included “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter,” “I’m Into Something Good,” and “Wonderful World.” As Herman, the photogenic Noone graced the cover of nearly every international publication. He guest-starred in many popular television shows such as Laverne and Shirley and Married … With Children and has many Broadway and film credits to his name.
Tony Butala, Donovan Tea and Mark Preston make up The Lettermen, with a sound that is a cross between big band vocal and early R&B rock. During the turbulent ‘60s, the group stood by its All-American, clean-cut, no drugs image even though it may have been a drawback in the hard rock era. The Lettermen had 25 hit singles, including “Hurt So Bad,” “Theme from A Summer Place,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
