Man Convicted of Battery and Terroristic Threatening in Searcy County

A Benton man has been sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Correction for Third Degree Battery and Terroristic Threatening that occurred in Searcy County.
Twentieth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Marcus Vaden charged David E. Johnson, age 43, of 1110 Edison Avenue in Benton, Arkansas with 3rd Degree Domestic Battery and Driving on a Suspended License.
On May 25, 2010 a motorist contacted Searcy County Dispatch after observing a man battering a female passenger in a vehicle while driving on Highway 65, between Marshall and Leslie, Arkansas. The motorist stated he could see Johnson striking the female on the head. The motorist also said the female attempted several times to exit the vehicle. After entering Leslie, the female apparently jumped from the vehicle and asked for help from the motorist stating Johnson told her he was going to “kill her”.
Another passenger in the vehicle with Johnson and the victim told investigators that Johnson grabbed the female by the hair and slammed her head repeatedly into the dash board.
Johnson pled guilty to charges of Third Degree Battery, Driving with a Suspended License, and Terroristic Threatening and was sentenced to 48 months in the Arkansas Department of Correction.
