Special Weather Statement
…difficult travel conditions are redeveloping this morning as wet
roadways refreeze…
Though the snowfall and freezing drizzle have ended across the state…a cold front was bringing a renewed punch of colder air. The colder air has filtered into northwest Arkansas and will continue to filter southeastward. This will keep temps from rising much through midday and allow roads to remain icy through at least noon. By this afternoon…the combination of some sunshine and timing of favorable daytime heating should result in better travel conditions…though slick spots will still exist.
Very cold temperatures tonight will allow wet roadways to refreeze again…creating potentially slick travel on Wednesday morning as well. The degree of hazard on the roadways will depend on how dry the roads can become with any sunshine received this afternoon. Untreated roadways will be the most hazardous.
